Pete Kavanagh | Guitar Tutor

My name is Pete. I am a singer, songwriter, musician and guitar teacher based in Livingston, West Lothian. I have been playing guitar for over thirty years and teaching twelve. I offer beginners guitar lessons in a wide range of music styles tailored to the preference of each student.

I provide a patient, friendly, fun and relaxed approach to discovering chords, scales, rhythm patterns and fingerstyles incorporating your choice of songs as well as some tried and tested covers.

I provide one to one, group adult and children guitar lessons. The lessons are from Beginner to Intermediate level. How much time you dedicate to practice will determine how fast you will learn to play the guitar. I offer you expert tuition and guide you through every stage of your guitar playing. Your motivation and application, coupled with my support, can turn you into a guitarist.



I teach every student basic music theory and the principles of good guitar technique. Understanding basic musical concepts such as harmony, key and rhythm make playing the guitar so much more enjoyable.

Don't worry if you don't have a guitar yet as I can usually provide one for use during your first couple of lessons (one to one lessons only). I would advise that you purchase or borrow a guitar as soon as possible as having a guitar at home will help you progress quicker. I can offer advice on what guitar may be best suited for you when you are ready to make that purchase.

I also provide guitar lessons for students who have some knowledge of music or basic guitar playing and wish to brush up on their skills.
